How long will it take?

Processing time for an administrative divorce by mutual consent is 6 to 10 days.

The timeframe starts when we receive your power of attorney. International delivery is not included in this timeframe.

What does €299 include?

The service costs €299. The price includes:

  • All government fees.
  • A notarized translation of the power of attorney into Georgian.
  • Free worldwide delivery of divorce certificates.

Please note that an apostille, if required, is charged separately and is not included in the price.

Please note that the cost of a divorce through the courts (when only one spouse consents) is calculated individually.

What to prepare for the first conversation

A description of your situation is enough to start. These are assessment questions, not a mandatory document checklist:

  1. Where and when the marriage was registered.
  2. Where each spouse currently lives.
  3. Whether both spouses agree to divorce.
  4. Whether there are minor children or disputed matters.
  5. Which marriage documents you have and where you need to use the result.

Questions about remote divorce

Can foreign citizens divorce in Georgia?

If the marriage was registered by an authorised Georgian authority, foreign citizenship alone does not prevent divorce registration. If you married in another country, let us know: eligibility to proceed in Georgia needs a separate assessment.

Can we divorce if we both live abroad?

Registration through a representative can allow a divorce without travelling to Georgia, provided the necessary conditions are met. We check the documents and remote options before starting. Personal participation in a court case is assessed separately.

What if my spouse opposes the divorce or does not respond?

A court procedure may be appropriate in this situation. A lack of response does not amount to consent. Tell us what you know about your spouse’s address and contact details: this information helps assess the case and how they can be notified.

Which documents will be needed?

Preparation requires the spouses’ identity documents, the marriage certificate and duly certified powers of attorney. You can start the discussion with the copies you have. We agree on the originals and any additional documents after reviewing your circumstances; a court case also requires information about the other spouse.

What if I no longer have the marriage certificate?

Tell us when and where the marriage was registered and what information you still have. We check whether a replacement certificate can be obtained and whether your case requires it. Any arrangements and additional costs are agreed in advance.

How do I arrange a power of attorney abroad?

Agree the wording and the representative’s powers with us before visiting a notary. Certification, translation and any apostille or legalisation requirements depend on the country where it is issued. We explain which approach applies to your situation.

How can I use the divorce certificate outside Georgia?

Check the requirements of the receiving institution in advance. Depending on the country, a translation, apostille or consular legalisation may be needed. Recognition of the divorce itself is a separate issue: an apostille alone does not guarantee automatic recognition.

What happens after the court grants a divorce?

Once the judgment becomes legally effective, the divorce is registered with the civil status registration authority. Documents confirming the divorce are then issued. We agree with you on how they will be obtained and delivered.
